French Graduate Seminar: Revisiting Early Drafts for the Thesis Write-Up

18th October 2022, 5:15 pm - 6:30 pm

The convenors of the French Graduate Seminar, Roger Navas i Solé and Hannah Scheithauer, warmly invite you to attend the first session of the French Graduate Seminar in the new academic year, which will take place on Tuesday of Week 2 (18 October), 5:15-6:30pm in The Hovenden Room, All Souls College.

Our first seminar is dedicated to welcoming the new cohort of graduate students in French and Francophone Studies and promoting exchange between students at different stages in their degrees.

Nora Baker, who is in her fourth year of her DPhil in Early Modern French, will give a presentation on ‘Revisiting Early Drafts for the Thesis Write-Up’. As she is preparing to submit her thesis, which investigates Huguenot refugee memoirs written after the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes, she will discussthe final stages of a multi-year research project, focusing on strategies for dealing with large bodies of material and restructuring drafts in the process of ‘writing up’.

This presentation will be followed by a Roundtable Discussion, which will allow students to (re-)introduce themselves, reflect on the year ahead, and discuss current research projects in an informal setting
