I work on the intellectual and religious history of the Islamic world in both the medieval and modern periods and the Arabic and Persianate spheres. My research and teaching are mainly focused on Sufism, Muslim-Christian and Muslim-Jewish interactions, and Islamic thought in the 20th and 21st centuries.
