My research focuses on business cycles and in particularly the role of government policy. Along with Albert Marcet my work focuses on the optimal level and composition of government debt – in other words fiscal policy and debt management. This work is also pursued in collaboration with co authors Martin Ellison, Elisa Faraglia, and Rigas Oikonomou. In a different strand of work I am writing on longevity and its implications for individuals, firms and society with Lynda Gratton.
